For the second straight season, the Texas Tech women’s tennis team is headed to the Sweet 16.
But it didn’t come easy as Mississippi State fought tooth-and-nail Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Raiders’ Gabriela Talaba, last year’s Co-Big 12 Freshman of the Year, will be the first to attest.
Clinging onto a slim 3-2 advantage, Texas Tech was looking to its No. 2 singles player for a key point. That in itself proved to be a challenge as Talaba found herself in an 0-2 hole in the third set against Georgiana Patrasc.
